What is Exploitative vs GTO Play?

GTO play is unexploitable — it wins money from everyone who deviates. Exploitative play adjusts to specific opponents' mistakes to win even more.

Against a player who folds too much, bluff more. Against a player who calls too much, value bet thinner.

Why it matters

Exploitative play trades unexploitability for higher EV against specific opponents. The risk: if your opponent correctly identifies your adjustment, they can counter-exploit back.

The safest exploit is stealing from tight players who over-fold, because the downside (getting called) is bounded. The riskiest exploit is bluffing into calling stations.
